28,000 new species for image recognition!
10-09-2023 - On September 5th, the latest version of the recognition software (NIA) went live. This enhanced version includes a whopping 28,000 new species! This will be particularly noticeable in Northern and Southern Europe, as well as in the Alps.
NIA is a collaboration between Naturalis Biodiversity Center and Observation.org. Since this version, the model not only uses photos from Observation.org but also material from research institutions in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and the United Kingdom. The best news is that you don't have to do anything to benefit from these improvements. Observation.org, ObsIdentify, and the other apps and portals will automatically switch to the latest NIA version.
Enjoy the enhanced functionality!

Announcement: all observations on Observation.org
06-04-2023 - Currently, all observations made in the Netherlands and Belgium are separated from Observation.org. Our developers have been working very hard on our complex databases, and we can now share that all observations from the Netherlands and Belgium will be added to Observation.org later this year. Because of the amount of work involved, this will go in steps. We will track our progress here in this news section as soon as we have more news to share.
